Breathing SpacePerformance Dance Project

A place to explore and create your own choreography.

Participants will have space to explore how movement can express stories that feel too fragile or complex for words. We'll discuss how this practice can support artistic process, prevent burnout, and be adapted for different contexts — from studio to daily life.

Meditation Dance is designed to help you gain vitality, stamina, greater ease and calm, strength, and integration in your body. Whether you're an experienced dancer or simply want to improve your posture and mobility

What to Expect:

Marita will guide you through dances that release and relax the stresses and tensions in the body and mind. This dearly held armouring is what can be imagined as a protective shield that is keeping us safe. Instead this impenetrable shell needs to be shed. When we dissolve this tension we can then create our own dance.

Our classes and performances projects aim to recover a lost innate creativity that lies within us all.

Meditation Dance stems from the ancient belief that at the beginning of our existence dance has always being innately within us. Before language this is how we told our stories. This was how we communicated with each other.

Meditation dance is a method and model from which we can express our unique ideas and stories, stories that are difficult to tell because of their illusive and fragile, mysterious natures. Stories that need to be told for the sake of our artistic expression and therefore our health, well being and happiness.

The project is 12 weeks long and will take place at Sadlers Wells East and The Place.
